LIVERPOOL, England, April 28, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) — Alfie Evans died today in a Liverpool children’s hospital at 2:30 a.m. local time.
Despite last-minute interventions, including the Italian government’s gift of citizenship to the infant, the child died four days after doctors at the Alder Hey NHS (National Health Service) Foundation ignored his parents’ wishes and removed him from a ventilator. His mother Kate James informed well-wishers of the boy’s death by posting a message on the “Alfie’s Army Official” Facebook page. “Our baby boy grew his wings tonight at 2:30 am,” the young mother wrote. “We are heart broken. Thank you everyone for all your support.” (read more) It’s been a titanic battle – UK’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital versus a helpless 23-month-old boy.
Alfie Evans suffers from an undiagnosed neurological disorder. He is not terminal, but that hasn’t stopped the hospital’s aggressive attempts – which some have called perverse, heinous and obscene – to end Alfie’s life. Lest you think we’re safe in America, our nation’s landscape is already littered with innocent victims.... ...We are living in dangerous times, so it’s necessary to be watchful and aware of threats around us. Having said this, many communities are blessed with life-affirming hospitals and healthcare facilities that work hard to defend their patients. We thank them. I’ll leave you with two action items to help protect at-risk patients. Please pray for Alfie Evans and his parents. At this writing, Alfie’s life literally hangs in the balance. Second, find out if your state has passed a futile care law that strips your right to make critical healthcare decisions for a loved one and empowers healthcare facilities to impose life-and-death verdicts based on “quality of life” or “cost-ratio” indicators. Pompeo leaves his role as the director of the CIA to take the new, high level position. A former U.S. Congressman from Kansas, Pompeo has a long record of supporting pro-life legislation. The Washington Examiner reports six Democrats and one independent who leans Democrat crossed party lines and voted to confirm him. Many lawmakers faced pressure from the pro-abortion lobby to oppose Pompeo. (read more) Top Pediatrician Says “Alfie is NOT Dying and Not Brain Dead.” Quit Holding Him in Hospital “Prison”4/26/2018
As the parents of Alfie Evans await a meeting today with hospital staff to find out if they would be able to bring him home, a prominent doctor who has studied Alfie says he is not dying and is not brain-dead and says the hospital needs to quit holding him as if he were in a prison.
Alfie supposedly has a degenerative neurological condition but that diagnosis is being challenged now that Alfie is breathing on his own without life support. Alfie Evans’ parents will meet with staff from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital today to request permission to take Alfie home. His father Tom Evans says he would not try to take Alfie to Italy if allowed to bring Alfie home, but that he would have doctors and support staff help Alfie from their home. Alfie has survived for a third day after hospital doctors removed his life support without their permission. Here’s more: Dr Izabela Pałgan, a paediatrician and children’s oncologist from Bydgoszcz in Poland, claims to have diagnosed the 23-month-old toddler on his parent’s request. She said: “The doctors at the hospital in Liverpool have approached the High Court for permission to unplug the child from his life support machinery, claiming it will be in his best interests. “But the child is not a dying child. On the Paediatric Glasgow Coma Scale the child ranks at about eight to nine points, so this is not a case of brain death. “The child reacts to his father’s voice and periodically opens his eyes. Periodically the boy also clenches his mouth when given a dummy, therefore he shows reactions. “The parents have absolutely stated the child communicates with them when they speak to him – they feel the child somehow feels their emotions and can emotionally connect with them. “Certainly this is not a dying child. In Poland and I think in other European countries as well, children like this are simply taken care of with palliative care or home care.” According to Dr Pałgan, the expert was called in to review Alfie’s case after family supporters sought out medical experts who could give a second opinion on Alfie’s conditions. That’s despite the prediction doctors made that Alfie wouldn’t live very long after his life support was removed.
Now, his father Tom Evans is demanding to “take him home.” Tom said: “For the third day now, there’s been not one single problem with him. Alfie doesn’t need intensive care any more. Alfie is lying on the bed with one litre of oxygen going into his lungs and the rest is him.” “Some people say it’s a miracle, it’s not a miracle, it’s a misdiagnosis.” He continued, saying that Alfie had “been off a ventilator for three days now” and that there had been “no deterioration” in his condition. “He hasn’t woke up, he’s still a little bit weak but what we ask for is to go home to sustain his life,” Alfie’s father said. Evans ruled out further legal battles to attempt to take Alfie to Italy to take him to a pediatric hospital that has offered to provide appropriate medical care and treatment for him. Alfie’s parents had hoped to take the little boy to the hospital in order to potentially get treatment that could help his rare degenerative neurological condition but courts have repeatedly denied that. As far as they’re concerned, the only thing better would be to see the group wave farewell to their $540 million in taxpayer dollars. Unfortunately, Congress didn’t give pro-lifers that satisfaction on the latest omnibus bill. But the group’s new midterm campaign is giving leaders plenty of incentive to try again!
Hours before Tax Day, Richards’s group made the mistake of reminding everyone where their dollars are going. While most Americans hurry to file their paperwork, Planned Parenthood is already deciding how to spend their share. After sinking hundreds of thousands of dollars into a losing effort in Illinois, the nation’s largest abortion business is hoping to make a big splash in three other states. And thanks to your tax dollars, they have plenty of wiggle room to try. Obviously, it’s illegal for Richards to use even a cent of federal funds on the group’s political activities. And while her accountants use every possible trick to keep the monies separate, there’s something fundamentally wrong with our system. No “nonprofit” organization should be allowed to rake in hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars — and then turn around with a related PAC and indirectly use those dollars to impact the political process. At 10:00 a.m. for each school’s local time on Wednesday, students left class to gather for seventeen minutes of silent witness for the ten children aborted by Planned Parenthood in that time period, and the more than 60 million babies killed since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in 1973. The National Pro-Life Walkout was devised by Rocklin High School student Brandon Gillespie of California, with organizational support provided by Students for Life of America (SFLA). Gillespie wanted the event to “honor all the lives of the millions of aborted babies every year.” Students for Life covered the walkout with live video at several schools, including Rocklin, Moriarty High School in New Mexico, Los Alamitos High School in California, and Frederick East Classical High School in Maryland. SFLA reports enthusiastic crowds brandishing a variety of signs, as well as honks of support from passing cars. Several members of the Rocklin community turned out to support Brandon Gillespie, as well. COLUMBIA CITY, Oregon, April 18, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Like 60% of Americans, Michael Bowman opposes taxpayer funding of abortion. Unlike most Americans, he is currently squaring off against the Internal Revenue Service to avoid doing so.
Bowman is a 53-year-old Christian and contract engineer in Columbia City, Oregon. He has refused to file a tax return or pay taxes since 1999, The Oregonian reports, citing the federal government’s funding of the abortion industry. "I'm not a tax protester. I love my country,” he told the paper. “I have a duty to my country. I have a duty to my conscience.” (continue reading) From Brian Westbrook:
I'm excited to share with you the news that Board Bill 34 was defeated at the St. Louis Board of Aldermen today. At least for a little while, we continue our pro-life efforts unobstructed. We want to thank the Aldermen and Alderwomen who stood up against this attack on our first amendment rights to freedom of speech, especially to those who disagree with us on the abortion issue. Make no mistake: while this is a huge victory, Planned Parenthood and their friends will continue to pursue even more restrictive efforts to limit our speech. While BB34 was defeated today, we fully expect this bill or a similar one to be filed again next session. We here at the Coalition for Life will fight to the end. The first step we have taken is filing HB2589 and its sister bill SB1053 in order to make crystal clear to the City of St. Louis that they can not restrict free speech unless limited restrictions are first granted by the State of Missouri. This is good news for residents of Columbia and Kansas City, where we understand other buffer zone bills are in the works behind the scenes. We want to thank Senator Andrew Koenig and Representative Holly Rehder for carrying our bill through the State House and State Senate. I encourage you to contact your state rep and state senator and ask for their favorable passage of HB2589 or SB1053. (click here for video of official statement) |
