Rep. Smith Seeks New HHS Rule to Make Consumers Aware of Abortion Surcharge

8/16/2018

Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) and 101 other Members of Congress sent a letter to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar requesting new regulations to enforce the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) requirement that insurers participating in the ACA marketplace must collect a separate payment, or “abortion surcharge” if the plan covers elective abortion. Current regulations permit insurance companies to essentially hide the abortion surcharge from consumers.
In 2009, President Obama told Congress that the ACA would not pay for abortion. Sadly, that promise was broken. Research by ObamacareAbortion.com has shown that, for 2018, roughly half of the plans sold on the ACA marketplace cover abortion on demand.
“Obamacare’s abortion surcharge is practically invisible to consumers,” said Smith, chair of the Bipartisan Congressional Pro-Life Caucus. “Consumers have a right to know. Abortion is not healthcare—it dismembers and chemically poisons defenseless unborn children and hurts women.”
“The Trump Administration now has the opportunity to take action and enforce the law to bring transparency to Obamacare’s abortion coverage and the abortion surcharge. No person should have to pay for abortion coverage they don’t want,” Smith said.

Congressman Smith is the prime sponsor of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (H.R. 7), which has passed the House of Representatives four times since 2011. This bill creates a government-wide, permanent protection against taxpayer dollars paying for abortion and health insurance plans that include abortion, and would permanently remedy the ACA’s unprecedented expansion of taxpayer funding for abortion coverage.

18 years of the abortion pill have made things worse for women and society

8/16/2018

Medication abortion, also known as the abortion pill, has been marketed as a simple answer for women who want an abortion, offering them the convenience of taking their preborn baby’s lives in the privacy of their own homes. But in reality, medication abortion has had destructive effects — not just on preborn children, but on women and society.
Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just 18 years ago, the “abortion pill” consists of two different medications. One medication, mifepristone, is “a synthetic steroid [that] interferes with a fertilized egg’s ability to adhere to the lining of the uterus.” Mifepristone works together with misoprostol, a medication which causes uterine contractions. At the time of approval, FDA Commissioner, Dr. Jane Henney, said the FDA approved mifepristone after a “careful evaluation of the scientific evidence related to the safe and effective use” of the drug.
But that “safe and effective” drug combination operates more like a human science experiment with deadly results.
1. Incomplete abortions. Focus on the Family reports that sometimes medications abortions are incomplete, and if so, “the woman has the option of taking another round of drugs or having a surgical abortion….”
Initially, the abortion pill was only available for 49 days past the woman’s last menstrual period; however, in 2016, the FDA upped that to 70 days, which, in turn, increased the risk for women, despite promises of safety.

2. Frightening side effects. Research on the abortion pill’s side effects and complications, however, is anything but positive… it’s disturbing. Side effects include pain, weakness, bleeding, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, and fever. Focus on the Family notes that bleeding “can potentially last for several weeks, and can be severe enough to require a transfusion.” Every woman “will experience” bleeding, which “is more common the earlier a woman is in her pregnancy.”
Beyond side effects, though, are serious complications that may occur. In a medical office, complications can be treated immediately and adequately, but a secret at-home abortion risks the mother’s life and takes the baby’s.
Obstetrics & Gynecology noted the occurrence and types of complications: hemorrhaging, infection/sepsis, undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy, incomplete abortion, uterine ruptures, and even, potentially, death.

Chelsea Clinton is Wrong. Killing 61 Million Babies Has Caused a GDP Deficit of $62.6 Trillion

8/16/2018

At a recent “Rise up for Roe” rally protesting the appointment of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Chelsea Clinton credited Roe v. Wade with adding $3.5 Trillion to the U.S. economy. In the years following Roe v. Wade, she said, “American women entering the labor force added three and a half trillion dollars to our economy. Right?”
Unfortunately, her answer is wrong. In fact, abortion has taken the lives of 61.4 million Americans since it was first decriminalized in 1967 – an estimated half of them women.
But instead of adding $3.5 trillion to the economy, that loss of lives has caused a cumulative GDP deficit of $62.6 trillion that continues to climb with each passing year. By 2040, that cumulative deficit will likely reach $400 trillion.
In short, it is the biggest drag ever on the U.S. economy, which makes Roe v. Wade the most costly Supreme Court decision in U.S. history. It is also the greatest single obstacle to Donald Trump’s dream of “making America Great Again.” And the biggest lie ever told about the economic impact of any social issue.

“Pro-Choice” is a Lie. Abortion Activists Want to Force Doctors and Nurses to Do Abortions

8/16/2018

Pro-abortion activists couldn’t sell abortion to the American people. It was foisted on our nation by the courts, ultimately seven men in black robes who nullified states’ legal protections for the babies and opened the floodgates of violence, death and mental anguish. Abortion was not the will of the people
The election of pro-life President Donald Trump and resultant nominations of Judges Gorsuch and Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as many others to the appellate and district courts, have reinforced to the Left that their stranglehold on America’s judiciary is slipping.
Their panic and desperation are evident. Frantic to keep the status quo of abortion on demand throughout pregnancy, abortion advocates, long known for their “pro-choice” and “who decides” rhetoric, are adopting a polar-opposite strategy.
A dwindling population of abortionists is seriously interfering with the abortion industry. So instead of espousing the virtue of “choice,” they’re now trying to force doctors, nurses, pharmacists, hospitals and others in the medical community to participate in the killing. Their mantra has evolved, and they’ve planted their flag in the “pro-choice if it’s my choice” camp, advocating “no choice” for those opposed to killing innocent babies.
These voices have gotten louder and bolder.
The usual suspects have spoken. Planned Parenthood denigrated the conscience rights of medical personnel by saying they were simply an “excuse to discriminate against others.”
The Guttmacher Institute, first established as the research arm of Planned Parenthood, ominously warned that laws protecting medical professionals “pose particularly serious dangers for society.”
A reoccurring theme has developed: Conscience rights should be totally eliminated, but until then, weed out the pro-lifers and at minimum require them to refer women to an abortionist who will kill their babies.

FDA Acquiring Aborted Human Baby Parts to Make Mice-Human Immune Systems

8/14/2018

ACTION ALERT FROM MISSOURI RIGHT TO LIFE:
It has been reported that the Food and Drug Administration recently signed a contract to purchase the body parts of aborted children. We cannot let this stand.

The FDA is encouraging the dismemberment of innocent, living human beings to provide them with a flow of baby body parts for experimentation. And they are using YOUR tax dollars to buy those body parts. See the links below for more details.

This is heinous and barbaric at every level. Is it not enough that the most innocent among us are being killed by the most violent means imaginable? But then these poor children are dissected to obtain their brains for purchase by the Food and Drug Administration.

We must contact our local legislators, state legislators, federal legislators and the President of the United States.

As Americans and children of God we have a moral obligation to stop this madness. Please call your legislators TODAY!
