President Donald Trump will expand an executive order he signed in January to defund Planned Parenthood’s international arm and Marie Stopes International. The Mexico City Policy prohibits nongovernmental international groups that commit or actively promote abortions overseas from receiving family planning funding; however, it does not halt humanitarian aid or health care services.
A White House official told CBN News that the Trump administration plans to announce the “Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance” policy Monday, which appropriates $8.8 billion through federal agencies and departments. The funding would go towards organizations that comply with the Mexico City Policy. Planned Parenthood attorneys often sought meetings and conference calls with members of the Attorney General’s Office to discuss a number of issues, including the “Video Tape Law,” HB 1671, which was used to criminally charge David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). While pro-abortion forces bask in their victory having stopped pro-life legislation, pro-life Missourians are questioning the lack of action by the Republican majority. Pro-life people of faith and values who went to the polls in November to elect pro-life leaders expect more! In the wake of the Board of Aldermen in St. Louis City declaring St. Louis to be a sanctuary city for abortion and U.S. District Judge Sachs ruling against common sense regulation of abortion clinics, the Missouri Senate has failed to act on pro-life legislation. When it comes to protecting women and saving babies, no end-of-session dysfunction or filibuster can explain this away. Pro-life action could have been taken many times over the past weeks of the legislative session. Missouri Right to Life continues to work with pro-life legislators and elected officials to find a way to protect women and babies. Governor Greitens has been very vocal about his support of HCS HB 174/SB 41 and HCS HB 194/SB 67. We know stopping sanctuary cities for abortion, accountability of baby body parts, jurisdiction issues for the Attorney General, Whistleblower protection and abortion clinic inspections have been priorities of pro-life Missourians this entire 2017 legislative session! Pray for our leadership and Missouri Right to Life as we work to protect women and babies from the deceptions of the abortion industry. Missouri Right to Life State Political Action Committee is pleased to endorse Sara Walsh for State Representative of House District 50.Sara is the only candidate endorsed for this House seat. Sara's opponent is endorsed by the extreme pro-abortion NARAL organization. Missouri Right to Life State Political Action Committee is also pleased to endorse Sandy Crawford for State Senator of Senate District 28. Sandy is the only candidate endorsed for this Senate seat. These endorsements represent our selection of SARA AND SANDY as the only candidates in their races who will be effective voices for the protection of innocent human life. Endorsement flyer can be found at the Missouri Right to Life State PAC website: missourilifepac.org. President Donald Trump is expected to sign a religious liberty executive order as soon as Thursday. The order would protect Christian organizations like the Little Sisters of the Poor from being forced to pay for abortions.
The expected religious liberty order will cover a number of issues but is of particular concern to pro-life advocates. Although the language of the order hasn’t been finalized, Thursday is the National Day of Prayer and the White House is planning to celebrate the occasion with Christian leaders and the executive order would be a nice compliment to that. Missouri House lawmakers passed an amendment this week to protect unborn babies from painful, late-term abortions.
The Associated Press reports the measure passed in a 101-39 vote Tuesday. It would prohibit abortions starting at 20 weeks when strong scientific evidence indicates unborn babies can feel pain. State lawmakers also approved a second amendment that would put in place stricter rules banning the sale or donation of aborted babies’ body parts and update the state parental consent law when a minor has an abortion, according to the AP.
