In February, the NAACP threatened to sue LifeNews.com and Ryan Bomberger, a LifeNews blogger , for a column that took the civil rights organization to task over its abortion position. The NAACP is upset about a column Bomberger wrote at LifeNews titled, “NAACP: National Association for the Abortion of Colored People,” which notes the organization’s 44th Annual Image Awards.
Following the piece, the NAACP sent Bomberger, the director of the Radiance Foundation, and LifeNews a threatening letter claiming infringement on its name and logo for including it in the opinion column. The letter accuses Bomberger (left) and his group, the Radiance Foundation, of “trademark infringement” overan ad campaign that exposes the NAACP’s pro-abortion position. Judge Jackson has ruled in favor of the NAACP, denying Bomberger’s right to comment upon, satirize, or criticize the NAACP’s documented pro-abortion actions by (in part) parodying their name. This ruling is a frightening attack on his First Amendment rights or others who want to comment on the NAACP’s pro-abortion position. Sadly, 50 years later, African-Americans are still facing a massive injustice. Abortion is the #1 killer in black America. Blacks now have the right to drink from any water fountain we desire, and we can go to any school we work hard to get accepted to. However, those rights pale in comparison to the right to life. Over 13 million black lives have been terminated through abortion. The privileges our ancestors fought for do us little good if we are steadily decreasing as a people group. Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in our nation. The organization Protecting Black Life reports that a 2010 census shows that 79% of Planned Parenthood’s surgical abortion facilities are located within walking distance of African-American or Hispanic/Latino neighborhoods. This is the fruit of an organization that’s been rooted in the philosophy of eugenics since its founding in 1916. More of our local campaign leaders will be sending in their reports soon … but so far, we are aware of … 547 babies whose lives have been spared from abortion during this campaign! And as always, those are only the ones we know about. Here are some of those stories. (read more) As this 40 Days for Life campaign comes to the end, we are reminded that the injustice of abortion is not an isolated occurrence that has no impact on us. It not only impacts us … but generations to come. Coalition for Life - St. Louis by Brian Westbrook Today, as we enter into the "final stretch" of our Spring 2014 40 Days for Life Campaign, a verse from 1 Corinthians comes to my mind and heart which reads, "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." Looking back on this campaign, I feel as though I can say with confidence that our many wonderful and dedicated volunteers and staff members have truly "run the race" as so to win the victory for LIFE in our local community! The countless hours that have been covered through the rain, snow and wind by so many people passionate about life and the countless prayers that have been lifted up from our city's sidewalks have touched and impacted lives far beyond what we could even imagine, and I could not be more grateful to our Lord for that! (link to blog) When you hear the term “human sex trafficking,” your thoughts probably go to some foreign land. Yet, the reality is that this crisis is taking place in your own backyard, in communities across America. It’s closer and more prevalent than you may realize. And abortion’s part of the equation. Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery, claiming the lives of countless women and children. Worldwide, it’s estimated that nearly 19 million people are enslaved in the commercial sex industry. The FBI reports that the average age of entry into sex trafficking is 12 to 14. Young girls, and sometimes boys, are lured in by pimps who promise a better life, love and acceptance or fame. One of the common tactics is to pose as an agent offering the girl a career in modeling. The girls are enticed, then manipulated, intimidated and overpowered, in most cases violently. Some are beaten, raped and forced into submission. In addition to the physical harm, the psychological abuse debilitates a girl’s sense of self. They’re brainwashed into believing that they are nothing. They’re told that no one will want them because of what they’ve done. Most disturbing, their lives can be threatened if they try to resist. It’s the ultimate victimization of body, mind and soul. As we confront this issue, it cannot be overlooked that there’s a connection between sex trafficking and abortion. It aids the perpetrator in further abusing the girl. And Planned Parenthood has been caught as a willing accomplice to the sex industry. In an undercover investigation, LiveAction sent actors into seven facilities, posing as a prostitute and pimp to inquire about Planned Parenthood’s services. During the conversation, they revealed that they were sex workers and even that they worked with girls as young as 14. According to the law, sex trafficking is considered a federal crime punishable by imprisonment of 10 years to life. But Planned Parenthood didn’t comply with the law. Instead they offered support, secrecy and cover-up by saying:
As pro-lifers, we must educate ourselves and advocate for the protection of these young women. At our website, we’ve put together a collection of articles, resources and rescue organizations. Let’s continue in our fight to protect the priceless value of innocent human life. President Barack Obama has nominated Sylvia Mathews Burwell to replace pro-abortion HSH Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who resigned Thursday as the head of the agency charged with implementing Obamacare.
Obama’s nominee to replace the abortion proponent is another pro-abortion activist. Burwell was previously the president of the Global Development Program of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She was Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of the Foundation prior to its reorganization in 2006 and worked at the pro-abortion foundation from 2001 to 2012. Burwell has also been involved in campaigns for pro-abortion candidates, including working on the Dukakis/Bentsen and the Clinton/Gore campaigns and she served as Deputy Chief of Staff to pro-abortion President Bill Clinton from 1997 to 1998. The Gates Foundation operated by Bill and Melinda Gates supports abortion and the Planned Parenthood abortion business. The Gates Foundation has given the Planned Parenthood Federation of America abortion business almost $12.5 million since 1998, including funds to persuade teenagers to support abortion and to lobby the United Nations to advance pro-abortion proposals. (read more) The reality is that Planned Parenthood peddles in lies, manipulation, and misinformation.
Live Action’s Rosa Acuna Project exposed the rampant medical misinformation given to women at clinics around the country. Far from allowing a woman to make an informed choice, our undercover investigations found that counselors lied and used exploitative tactics to convince women to have abortions. These tactics are blatant violations of the American Medical Association’s principle of informed consent, which says that physicians must give patients accurate medical information. Planned Parenthood lied about providing mammograms. They don’t inform women of the myriad health risks that come with abortion, and they tell them it’s safer than childbirth. Houston, Texas is the home of the largest abortion facility in the Western Hemisphere. As you drive up, the 78,000 square foot facility looks overwhelming. When it opened a few years ago, many were disheartened … but not all. Texans responded in a big way — including a courageous, younger Texan. In the midst of such evil, Christ can even use an 11-year-old girl to remind us of the hope He has in store. Be encouraged by these two reports that come from warm locations where the theme of their campaigns has been persistence. (link to 40 Days for Life blog) Local Update (last updated- Day 29) by Brian Westbrook Today I just returned back from the St. Peter’s 40 Days for Life campaign and I was reminded of Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Today as we all look out our windows it is incredibly obvious that the weather is pretty bad. And as I stood in the pouring down rain aside Chris Schulenburg I couldn’t help but ask myself the question of “Would Jesus stand out here in the rain for the unborn?”; Because if we are made in God’s image then our actions and decisions should reflects God’s will here on Earth. So as you look in the mirror in the morning do you see God? (link to Coalition for Life, St. Louis) Despite the wind and rain, some dedicated ECAMRL members braved the harsh weather conditions to pray outside of the Planned Parenthood abortion mill in St. Louis.
