Missouri Legislature Passes the
“Missouri Stands For the Unborn Act,” SS SCS HB 126 Shortly before 5:00 AM this morning, the Missouri Senate passed SS SCS HB 126. Missouri Right to Life is very grateful to the Missouri House of Representatives for sending the strongest pro-life bill in Missouri history to the Senate, to Senator Koenig, Senator Onder and the senate conservative caucus and to Governor Parson for their great efforts to pass the strongest version of the bill possible. After 18 hours of negotiation, the Senate took up and passed groundbreaking legislation that will set the standard for pro-life legislation nation wide. This legislation will:
(link to press release) The Missouri Senate passed a major pro-life bill Thursday that would ban abortions after unborn babies have detectable heartbeats.
The Senate approved the bill in a 24-10 vote early Thursday, according to the AP. The bill must return to the state House for a final vote, but it is expected to pass. Republican Gov. Mike Parson supports the legislation. The pro-life bill provides protections for unborn babies in a wide range of scenarios, while taking into account court rulings like Roe v. Wade that restrict states from protecting the unborn. The bill bans abortions after eight weeks of pregnancy, with exceptions for medical emergencies. Abortionists who violate the measure could be punished with up to 15 years in prison. Women are excluded from prosecution. It also includes a provision that would completely ban abortions once Roe v. Wade is overturned. Additionally, the bill has measures that would prohibit unborn babies from being aborted up to various limits between 14 weeks and 20 weeks if courts strike down the eight-week ban. The Pennsylvania representative received pushback from pro-lifers and even some pro-choicers after he posted videos on social media of himself harassing an elderly pro-lifer praying the rosary (to whom he referred as an “old white lady”) outside a Planned Parenthood which has failed more than half of its recent health inspections. In addition, Sims harassed three teenagers and their mother, offering to donate $100 to Planned Parenthood if his social media followers would give him the names and addresses of the minors, something known as “doxxing.”
The event was organized by Live Action and other national leaders. Live Action president and founder Lila Rose told CBS Philly that the large pro-life crowd showed “the strength of the pro-life community, that the pro-life community in Philadelphia and beyond will not back down to violence, bullying and intimidation.” (continue reading) Below is the link to access Missouri Right to Life's latest Lifeline issue. It takes one “smirk” from a conservative teen in a MAGA hat to generate a national news meltdown, yet prolonged verbal harassment from a Democratic state representative towards an older woman praying in protest at a Planned Parenthood clinic hardly gets any mainstream attention. Neither ABC, CBS or NBC nightly news programming paid any attention to Pennsylvania State Representative Brian Sims’ 8-minute plus video of him bullying a peaceful pro-life protester.
While this media behavior is certainly not shocking — what self-aggrandizing mainstream journo would want to sell out a pro-choice lawmaker? — it is absolutely disgusting and betrays a horrific double standard... To counter Sims, conservative writer Matt Walsh is leading a rally of pro-lifers at 11 AM on Friday outside the Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania, which is located at 1144 Locust St. Despite how disgusting it is that an American politician would resort to such behavior, no major network news aired anything on the situation, even with all the noise online and Senator Ted Cruz calling attention to the videos. Neither ABC, NBC nor CBS national programs picked up on the story. (read full article) In a day and age where there are multiple forms of birth control, I still managed to get pregnant in college. I was too old to be on Teen mom, yet too young for anyone to know whether or not my pregnancy should be congratulated. My pregnancy was not at all planned, but that does not mean that my daughter was not meant to be here...
...That one decision of deciding to keep my baby changed my life forever. I signed up for summer classes and managed to graduate with my bachelor’s in political science and psychology a full year early. I spent that summer waddling to and from my classes and work, trying hard to avoid staring eyes. Then, on July 22nd, 2018, Noelle Sedona Corace was born. She is my entire life, and I never knew how much I could love someone until I met her. (read full article) |
