From Brian Westbrook:
I'm excited to share with you the news that Board Bill 34 was defeated at the St. Louis Board of Aldermen today. At least for a little while, we continue our pro-life efforts unobstructed. We want to thank the Aldermen and Alderwomen who stood up against this attack on our first amendment rights to freedom of speech, especially to those who disagree with us on the abortion issue. Make no mistake: while this is a huge victory, Planned Parenthood and their friends will continue to pursue even more restrictive efforts to limit our speech. While BB34 was defeated today, we fully expect this bill or a similar one to be filed again next session. We here at the Coalition for Life will fight to the end. The first step we have taken is filing HB2589 and its sister bill SB1053 in order to make crystal clear to the City of St. Louis that they can not restrict free speech unless limited restrictions are first granted by the State of Missouri. This is good news for residents of Columbia and Kansas City, where we understand other buffer zone bills are in the works behind the scenes. We want to thank Senator Andrew Koenig and Representative Holly Rehder for carrying our bill through the State House and State Senate. I encourage you to contact your state rep and state senator and ask for their favorable passage of HB2589 or SB1053. (click here for video of official statement) Comments are closed.
