Missouri Right to Life applauds those in the Missouri Senate who voted for SB 126 sponsored by Senator David Sater, District 29. This legislation simply says that licensed pharmacies cannot be required to carry or maintain in inventory of any specific drug or device. This will give protection to pharmacy owners from lawsuits by those who would seek to force them to carry abortifacient drugs or devices.
Although this legislation is not specific to the abortion issue, the broad language covers pharmacy owners who would seek to stand on their religious and moral beliefs not to carry abortifacient drugs or devices.
We encourage the House to take up and pass this legislation upon its arrival.
